My 3-Phase Collaborative Design Process
Every project follows a structured three-phase process designed to transform your vision into a polished, professional visual identity.
This process is the foundation of every project I take on. It provides structure, clarity, and flow while still leaving room for creativity, flexibility, and discovery throughout the design journey.
While every project moves through these core phases, no two are exactly alike. Each project has its own pace, energy, and evolution. Your ideas, feedback, and insights help shape the direction of the work, while my role is to guide the creative process through design strategy, artistic expertise, and thoughtful execution.
You bring the core inspiration and story behind your brand. I translate that vision into something cohesive, visually compelling, and ready to meet the world.
Phase One: Setting the Scene
Every project is unique. Whether it’s a book, a brand, or a one-of-a-kind illustration, each package is tailored to fit your vision and goals.
Share your services — Let me know the pieces you’d like to combine: logos, branding, mockups, or other digital assets.
Build your package — Based on your goals, I’ll create a tailored design scope that aligns with your project.
Secure your spot — A 50% deposit reserves your place on my schedule and officially kicks off the creative process.
Once your spot is secured, we’ll begin establishing the foundation of your project.
You’ll receive access to a collaborative Miro board where you can upload anything that captures your vision: vibes, reference covers, sketches, character notes, or worldbuilding details.
I’ll review your materials and add curated imagery, creative direction, and visual inspiration to guide the design process.
Together we’ll refine the tone, look, and feel until a clear creative direction begins to take shape.
This phase sets the stage for everything ahead, ensuring your design feels deeply connected to your story before we move into the next steps.
Phase Two: Design & Refinement
With the direction established, I’ll begin drafting initial concepts. These start as rough sketches and early layouts that form the framework of your design. They will be loose and unpolished, so it’s important to look past the roughness and focus on the overall direction and potential.
You’ll receive:
Early concepts that lay out the foundation of your design
The opportunity to share what feels most aligned with your vision, helping guide the refinement of the design
Continued refinement as I adjust details such as colors, layouts, illustrations, and composition to bring the concept into its final form
This phase is where the initial idea evolves into something refined, intentional, and uniquely yours.
Phase Three: Finalization & Delivery
Once your concepts are finalized and the remaining 50% balance is received, we’ll move into the confirmation stage to review the final designs together. This is the moment to make sure everything looks and feels right. Minor tweaks can still be made if needed before the designs are finalized.
After confirmation, I’ll prepare all of your deliverables—whether that’s book covers, illustrations, logos, merchandise designs, or digital graphics—ensuring every element is polished, cohesive, and ready to use.
You’ll receive:
Final files prepared for print, digital use, and promotion (PDF, PNG, JPG, etc.)
A completed package within your Miro board, with all approved designs organized and easy to access
Core brand assets you may need—like color codes, font pairings, and style details—so your visuals stay consistent across every platform
Any additional content or assets included in your selected package
This phase ensures you leave with everything you need to launch your project into the world—confident, prepared, and supported by design that feels unmistakably yours.

✺ Frequently asked questions ✺
-
Your satisfaction matters to me, and my process is built with collaboration in mind. From the very beginning, we’ll discuss your vision in detail so I understand exactly what you’re looking for. During the design phase, you’ll have opportunities to give feedback and request revisions — making sure the final artwork feels true to your story and your brand.
Once we reach the third phase (finalization & delivery), big changes to the design won’t be possible, but I can still make small adjustments and refinements to ensure everything looks polished. My goal is for you to feel proud and confident showing off your cover and visuals.
-
Yes! I make it simple and flexible. A 50% deposit reserves your spot in my calendar, with the remaining 50% due when your final files are delivered. At checkout, you also have the option to use Klarna, which allows you to split your payments into smaller, manageable installments.
This way, you can secure your project while spreading out payments in the way that works best for you — without sacrificing focus, quality, or timelines.
-
Timelines vary based on the package you choose and the level of detail in the artwork. Most book cover and character art projects take 4–10 weeks from start to finish. I’ll provide you with a clear, personalized timeline once we’ve discussed your project and kicked things off.
-
Yes — for final designs only. Once your final payment is made, you’ll have full rights to use the final artwork for your intended purpose (book covers, promotional materials, etc.). I retain the copyright, which allows me to display the work in my portfolio or marketing unless we agree otherwise in writing.
If you’d like to share concept art publicly, that’s totally fine — just please credit me as the artist and note that concepts can’t be used for other purposes, edited, or taken to another designer.
-
Because your book deserves to be more than just another title lost in the scroll. You poured your love, sweat, and tears into writing it. This isn’t a quick cash grab, it’s the foundation of your long-term author career and income.
A Canva template or a rushed pre-made can’t capture that. What you need is a cover that is custom, unique, and artistic — something that reflects your story’s soul and positions you as the professional, successful author you already are. That’s exactly what I create for every client I work with.
-
Yes — if my schedule allows, I can take on rush projects for an additional +20% rush fee. This can help fast-track your book cover or character art so you can meet your launch date or event deadline.
Please reach out before booking to confirm availability, unless you’re happy to move forward with the normal project timeline if my schedule is full.
-
It depends on the situation! If you already have cover art, branding, or visual elements you’d like to keep, I can often build on them—provided you have the rights and proper usage permissions. Reach out with the files and details, and I’ll let you know how (or if) we can incorporate them seamlessly into your new design.
-
Minor adjustments after final delivery can usually be made for a small fee, and I try to make all graphics as editable as possible so they can be updated as needed. Major revisions or new artwork requests will require a separate booking.
Any significant changes should be brought up during Phase Two of the process — this is when we refine the vision together and it’s easiest to make adjustments. We can also revisit unused concept work from your project later on, so if you loved multiple concepts during the design stage, we can use those for future packages or projects.
