Dungeons & Dragons: Jerrich the Knight
Project Overview
The Client’s Request
A Dungeons & Dragons campaign master approached me to bring his character, Jerrich Alphonse, to life through detailed character art. He wanted a design that reflected both the battle-hardened grit of a soldier and the quiet wisdom of a man seeking redemption. The goal was to capture Jerrich’s duality—his physical toughness contrasted by a deeply introspective, almost poetic spirit.
My Process
To understand Jerrich fully, I studied the client’s notes and lore surrounding his campaign world. Jerrich stood out as a seasoned human fighter, his lean build and sharp features hinting at years of experience and discipline. His armor needed to feel practical and well-worn—something a man who’s seen countless battles would wear—while his expression had to convey the optimism and resolve of someone who has chosen to fight for life rather than death.
I focused on balancing strength with subtle emotion: the greying hair, the faint tiredness in his eyes, and the stance of a man ready to act without losing his humanity. Through lighting, texture, and posture, I aimed to tell Jerrich’s story in a single frame—a soldier turned guardian, a blade used now to protect rather than destroy.
